Overview

TrailBlaze Utah runs trailblazeutah.com, a directory of Utah businesses, and TrailBlaze AI, which answers calls, texts and messages for local businesses. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use and share it, and the choices you have.

It applies to the website, our forms and accounts, the businesses' listings, and TrailBlaze AI. We don't sell your personal information.

Section 1

Information We Collect

Information you give us: your name, email, phone number and message when you contact a business, claim a deal, ask to be matched, sign up, claim a listing, post a review or contact us. If you run a business, also your business details, services, hours, service areas and billing information (card details go straight to our payment processor; we never see or store your full card number).

Business information: the directory lists business facts such as name, address, phone, hours, website, category and Google rating, gathered from public sources, third-party data providers and Google's official Places service, or added by the owner.

Information from using the site: pages visited, device and browser type, approximate location from your IP address, referring site, and the links you click. We keep which ad or link first brought you to us (for example a campaign code) in a cookie so we can tell which of our marketing works.

TrailBlaze AI: when a business uses TrailBlaze AI, we process the calls, texts, chats and forms its customers send to that business, including names, phone numbers, messages, bookings and payments, plus call transcripts or recordings if those features are turned on for that business.

Section 2

How We Use Information

To run the directory and our services: show listings, deliver your requests to businesses, verify listing claims, send account messages, answer and book calls for TrailBlaze AI businesses, and process payments.

To keep TrailBlaze safe and accurate: block spam and fraud (including automated checks that score whether a message is genuine), fix listing errors, and enforce our Terms.

To improve and market TrailBlaze: understand how the site is used, measure our ads and marketing, and, where you agreed to it, send you offers such as our weekly deals email.

We use AI tools to help with some of this, for example drafting listing descriptions from a business's own website, checking whether a contact message is spam, and running TrailBlaze AI's assistant. These tools process the data for us to do that work. Anthropic, which provides most of our AI, doesn't use data sent through its business service to train its models.

Section 3

Requests You Send to a Business

When you contact a business through TrailBlaze, we share your name, contact details and message with that business so it can reply. If the business has claimed and verified its listing, we send them right away. If it hasn't, we only tell the business that someone asked, and share your details after the owner has claimed and verified the listing.

Once a business has your details, its own privacy practices apply to how it uses them.

Section 4

Cookies and Tracking

We use cookies and similar tools to keep you signed in, remember your choices and keep the site secure. Analytics (Google Analytics) and any advertising pixels (such as Meta's) load only after you accept cookies in our banner; if you decline, they don't load.

You can also block or delete cookies in your browser. Some features, like staying signed in, need cookies to work.

Section 5

Text Messages

If you agree to receive texts from TrailBlaze, we text you only about what you agreed to (for example your account, a request you made, or offers you asked for). Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to stop or HELP for help.

We do not sell, rent or share mobile phone numbers or text-message opt-in data with third parties or affiliates for their marketing. Opt-in data and consent are never shared with anyone except the service providers that deliver our messages for us.

Section 6

How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information.

We share it with: the businesses you choose to contact (as described above); and service providers that help us run TrailBlaze, under contracts that limit how they use it. These include Supabase (database and hosting), Cloudflare (security and site delivery), Stripe (payments), HighLevel (customer messaging, calls and texts for TrailBlaze AI), Resend (email delivery), Google (Analytics, Search Console and the Places service we use to check listing details), Meta (advertising measurement, only if you accept cookies), Anthropic (AI processing), and Outscraper (a third-party provider of public business data for new listings).

We may also share information if the law requires it, to protect people's rights or safety, or as part of a merger, sale or transfer of our business, in which case this policy continues to apply to it.

Section 7

Information We Process for TrailBlaze AI Businesses

For a business that uses TrailBlaze AI, we process its customers' information on the business's behalf and according to its instructions. That business decides how its customers are contacted and is responsible for having their permission. If you're a customer of one of these businesses and want your information changed or deleted, contact the business, or contact us and we'll pass the request on and help.

Section 8

How Long We Keep Information

We keep information only as long as we need it for the purposes above: account information while your account is open; requests and messages for as long as the business relationship needs them; and records we must keep for legal, tax or dispute reasons for as long as those require. A record that you asked us to stop contacting you is kept so we can keep honoring it. When we no longer need information, we delete it or make it anonymous.

Section 9

Data Security

We protect information with access controls, encryption in transit, limited staff access and security monitoring. No website or system is perfectly secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security. If a breach affects your information, we'll notify you as the law requires.

Section 10

Your Choices and Rights

You can update your account information at any time, and delete your account from your account settings (Delete account) or by emailing us.

You can ask us to access, correct, delete or give you a copy of your personal information, or to stop marketing to you, by emailing [email protected]. The Utah Consumer Privacy Act may give Utah residents these rights depending on whether TrailBlaze meets its size thresholds; we'll respond to these requests either way. We'll confirm your identity before acting on a request.

If you own a business, you can correct or remove its listing with the "Fix it free" and "Remove this listing" options on the listing, or by emailing us.

Section 11

Children’s Privacy

TrailBlaze is for adults and businesses. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we'll delete it.

Section 12

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy. We'll post the new version here with a new "Last updated" date, and tell account holders by email about significant changes.
